The Law № 1642-VII “On the establishment of military prosecutors," regulates the procedure the activity of military prosecutor's offices in the country, the order of creation, staffing and logistical military prosecutor's offices, as well as social protection of their employees with the status of military personnel. According to the legislation, the Military Prosecutor's Office include the Main Military Prosecutor's Office (as a structural unit of the General Prosecutor's Office), the military prosecutor's office of regions (on a regional), the military prosecutor's garrisons and other military prosecution equated to the prosecutor's offices of cities and regions. The Main Military Prosecutor's Office will be chaired by the Deputy General Prosecutor – The Chief Military Prosecutor. In cases when due to extraordinary circumstances the regular prosecutions bodies are not able to operate, the military prosecutors with the authorization of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine will carry out its functions. Military prosecutors and investigators will be appointed by the citizens of the number of officers, military service or in reserve and at the same time having a law degree.
As reported earlier, April 13, 2012, the Ukrainian parliament adopted the Law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine" On Prosecutor's Office “; Article 13 of this law introduces amendments to the Law “On Prosecutor’s Office”, including the changes regarding the military prosecutors.
